Why make a coin by hand?

I’m Taylor, and I’m in recovery. Milestones matter to me—not because a coin does the work, but because sometimes you need something solid in your hand to remind you of the work you’ve already done.

I want to learn how to melt, cast, and hand-press silver medallions that celebrate the days people fought for: a sober anniversary, a fresh start, a promise kept, or any moment that deserves more than a date on a calendar.

Puddle & Press is the record of me learning to make them. Slowly, honestly, and from scratch.

The long-term goal is simple. The route there involves heat, metal, tools, practice, and a healthy respect for everything I do not know yet.

Melt

Start with .999 silver and enough heat to turn something precious into a bright, unruly puddle.

Shape

Pour, cast, trim, and coax the metal toward a blank—keeping the evidence that human hands were involved.

Press

Strike a design with weight and meaning. Finish it, learn from it, and make the next one better.
